"that's fine...the pods that were supposed to hear this did, and it will kick in when it needs to..."

Change.

There have been lot's of changes to TeamSjogren over the last couple of months...the weather turned (I mean real cold), I didn't run one step in the month of December, and (oh yeah) we had a baby.

Elsa Ann arrived in November.

I've started running again, and just signed up for Grandma's marathon in June. The rest of the schedule is up in the air, but it sounds like their could be at least one other marathon included and potentially an Ironman. We'll see how good TeamSjogren does with time managment in the months ahead!

2008 Twin Cities Marathon ... in the books ...

Yesterday was the marathon. The very wet and windy marathon. I'm beginning to think I have a habit of attracting bad weather at the events I take part in.

The race went well. I ran the first half of the race with my friend Greger, taking it pretty easy at the start and easing into a steady pace. After starting at the wrong end of the Corral 1 pack, we were able to catch up to the 3:30 pace group by mile 11. We both stayed on pace with this group until the half-way point, then I decided to push it a bit for the last half. I had ambitions of catching the 3:20 pace group before the finish, but came up a bit short in the end. I haven't pulled down the official results yet, but I think I finished in 3:22~.

All in all, it was a fun day...and like usual, after finishing I immediately began planning out how I can run a faster race next time!

It seemed that Team Sjogren was around every corner cheering and playing charge! Here's a picture of 2/3rds of the crew in action:

I'm officially in my "off-season" now...and loving it! Here's one more picture of Merrie, me and the little one post race.

Running, birth classes, and a Floyd Landis sighting?

Running has been going pretty well lately. I'm dealing with my foot/leg issue and shouldn't have any problems getting through the marathon...so that's good. The work is pretty much done. I did my last long run today (16 miles) on the course which helped with my expectations, etc.

Yesterday Merrie and I sat through an 8 hour "birthing class". Yes, 8 hours on one of the most perfect Minnesota fall days we've had in years. I had two comments after it was finished...(1) it could have been cut in half if the same information was not repeated over, and over, and over, (2) the time would have passed much quicker if there was some sort of audience interaction...just my 2 cents, now I'm over it.

Just got a text from my sister Emmy (aka Emmy the Great). Sounds like she had brunch with the controversial former 2006 Tour de France winner...Mr. Floyd Landis. We do not have official confirmation of this rumor as of yet (you know the rule - pictures or it didn't happen). I'll report back when/if this rumor has been confirmed!

I'm in!

The 20 mile run went well...I'm a go for the marathon and am really looking forward to it. I think a PR may be a possibility!

Camp Odayin 5k Post-Race

Well, the 5 K went well this morning. I took 5th or 6th overall, and had relatively no pain in my leg/ankle/foot. The new shoes worked! Looking forward to the 20 miler tomorrow, which will be the real decision maker regarding the TC Marathon.
